This course will focus on the role of verification and validation, from the beginning through the final stages of the systems engineering for a program or project. It will clarify the confusing use of the terms verification and validation, and explain the process of validating requirements and generating verification requirements. Starting with verification and validation plans, it focuses on how to choose the best verification method and approach. Topics presented include: developing a Test and Evaluation Master Plan; conducting testing, which involves activities, facilities, equipment, and personnel; evaluation, the process of analyzing and interpreting data; acceptance testing, to ensure that the products meet the customer’s requirements; functional and physical audits; simulation and modeling to provide virtual duplication of products and processes in operationally valid environments; and verification management, which organizes verification tasks and provides total traceability from customer requirements to verification reports.
