KUSI-TV San Diego reports that the San Diego Air & Space Museum announced Wednesday that AIAA is part of its 2017 International Air & Space Hall of Fame class. KUSI describes AIAA as “the world’s largest technical society...dedicated to the global aerospace profession.” Other inductees include NASA astronaut Christa McAuliffe, one of seven crew members killed in the 1986 Challenger space shuttle disaster, and Chance Vought, whose efforts led to the creation of the F-8 Crusader and A-7 Corsair II. Museum President and CEO Jim Kidrick said, “We’re especially pleased to honor this exemplary Class of 2017 because these pioneers have not only made significant contributions in air and space exploration, they’ve also become strong positive role models for today’s youth.” (Image: San Diego Air and Space Museum.
