Following the launch failure of a Russian Proton rocket with three GLONASS navigation system satellites on 2 July, an unnamed source said Russia is suspending all Proton launches until an investigation commission completes its work. Some are speculating the crash was caused because the rocket lifted off prematurely. In a statement, the Baikonur prosecutors office said a criminal case has been opened into the incident. Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has said Russia’s rocket and space industry cannot continue to exist in its current form. (Image Credit: Roscosmos)
