California firefighters are employing an MQ-1 UAV for almost immediate views of any portion of the flames in the Yosemite National Park wildfire. The MQ-1 unmanned aircraft quickly alerted fire bosses to a new flare-up they otherwise wouldn’t have immediately seen. The aircraft is being remotely piloted from hundreds of miles away by the 163rd Wing of the California National Guard at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside, and is operating out of Victorville Airport.
