Northrop Grumman’s MQ-8C Fire-X vertical take-off unmanned air vehicle (VTUAV) has fired its engines for the first time. The test lasted for 10 minutes. The engines will be engaged a couple more times this week before that information is sent to the U.S. Navy in preparation for first flight. While no firm first flight date has been established, it is tentatively scheduled for mid-October. Following first flight, the aircraft will enter a six-month flight test program before delivery to the U.S. Navy. (Image Credit: Northrop Grumman)
