The Lockheed Martin Skunk Works X-56A Multi-Utility Technology Testbed (MUTT) is getting flexible wings installed so it can conduct tests at the edge, and beyond, of the destructive flutter envelope. NASA and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory are using the unmanned plane to test flutter suppression and gust-load alleviation technologies, which is considered vital research for future UAV designs.
