A recent FAA statement said that the agency will recall more than 800 aircraft inspectors from furloughs, and that about 75% of these inspectors will focus on major airline operations. Most of the remainder are expected to focus on the most critical production of aircraft and parts. The FAA is also recalling about 25 doctors and support workers who oversee drug and alcohol testing of commercial pilots, mechanics, and others. Meanwhile, the shutdown is beginning to affect parts the aircraft market because the FAA has closed its ownership registry. (Image Credit: U.S. DOT)
