Lockheed Martin has launched a civilian version of the C-130J Super Hercules military cargo aircraft. Jack Crisler, Lockheed’s vice president for air mobility, special operations and maritime programs, said company approval has been given for the plane that could be delivered in 2018. The plane could be used by energy and mining companies to deliver supplies and personnel to remote areas. An application has already been filed with U.S. regulators for the new civilian model.
