Two Great New Ways for Sections to Engage in STEM Outreach

Part 1: 1900-1950:

Introducing the AIAA Educator Academy!

Do you ever wish your local schools taught AIAA approved aerospace curricula in grades 3-12? Well, now they can, if your section engages them in using one of the AIAA's brand new Educator Academy curriculum modules. Come find out how! This presentation introduces the Educator Academy, highlighting the three exciting inquiry-based modules, Space Weather Balloon, Mars Rover Celebration, and Electric Cargo Plane; and provides details on how to adopt the Academy as one of your Section's major STEM K-12 Outreach Programs.

Part 2: 2000-2130

Engineers as Educators Train the Trainers Workshop

Is your region looking for a great way to engage in STEM outreach? Is your section ready to inspire students by hosting your own Engineers as Educators workshop for your local professional members? In this Train the Trainers workshop, participants will learn how to be instructors for our Engineers as Educators program, allowing those who are interested in coordinating their own section/region Engineers as Educators events to learn about basic pedagogical skills such as developing audience engagement, probing or comprehension, and good strategies for teaching with manipulatives. Participants will also learn the 'nuts and bolts' of organizing this workshop, such as room requirements, the registration process, event timelines, etc.
