Chanute Flight Test Award
This award honors Octave Chanute, pioneer aeronautical investigator. Originally the Octave Chanute Award from 1939 to 1976, the award was presented for an outstanding contribution made by a pilot or test personnel to the advancement of the art, science, and technology of aeronautics. The award was renamed in 1978 to the Chanute Flight Award, but discontinued in 2005. It has been reactivated as the Chanute Flight Test Award presented biennially (odd numbered years) to recognize significant lifetime achievements in the advancement of the art, science, and technology of flight test engineering. The award is scheduled to be presented at the AIAA Aviation and Aeronautics Forum (AVIATION).
