|AIAA Foundation to Establish the Neil Armstrong Scholarship Endowment Fund
Fund Established at the Request of the Armstrong Family, Honors First Person to Walk on the Moon
August 30, 2012 – Reston, Va. – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation (AIAA Foundation), at the request of the family of Neil A. Armstrong, who was the first person to set foot on the Moon, and an AIAA Honorary Fellow, has established the Neil Armstrong Scholarship Endowment Fund.
“We are honored to have been selected by the Armstrong family as one of three recipients of gifts made in memory of Neil Armstrong,” said Robert S. Dickman, executive director of AIAA. “Donations will fund the Neil Armstrong Scholarship Endowment Fund, to help ensure that the students of today have the opportunity to pursue the education that will be necessary for them to follow in Neil’s footsteps as the aerospace leaders of tomorrow.”
