Technology and Engineering Educator at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia, Maryland
Paul Wiedorn is a Technology and Engineering educator at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia, Maryland. A 1978 graduate of the Naval Academy, Paul has been able to apply his degrees in Naval Architecture and his engineering experience to help his students excel in the Maryland Engineering Challenges. His perennial favorite is the Electric Cargo Airplane, not just because his students often place high in the standing but because the design is limited mostly by physics.
The cargo airplane challenge rewards the ability to apply STEM to solve an authentic problem. For the past several years he has been called upon to bring his knowledge of the Electric Cargo Airplane to teachers around Maryland and is now bringing this challenge to teachers around the nation.
