Fifth AIAA CFD Drag Prediction Workshop
The Fifth AIAA CFD Drag Prediction Workshop (DPW-V) will be held during the weekend prior to the Applied Aerodynamics Conference. DPW-V will assess and help advance state-of-the-art computational methods as practical aerodynamic tools for aircraft force and moment prediction. Results will be solicited from the International CFD and Aerodynamic Design communities to evaluate the accuracy and limitations of solvers and gridding techniques currently in use. Standard practices that improve the accuracy of results will be solicited and promoted. The subject geometry for DPW-V is the NASA Common Research Model (CRM), which already includes a large database of wind-tunnel results available to the public domain. An impartial forum for evaluating the effectiveness of existing computer codes and modeling techniques using Navier-Stokes solvers will be provided and a statistical assessment of the state-of-the-art of CFD for aerodynamic predictions will be developed. Areas needing additional research and development will be identified. Promotion of the results through publication will be encouraged and made available to the CFD community on the World Wide Web. Special Sessions at AIAA Conferences will be organized. Please join us at DPW-V as either a participant or an attendee.
