    Educator Awards

AIAA's awards recognize educators for contributions and accomplishments, and also acknowledge their work in inspiring and motivating the next generation of aerospace professionals.

    AIAA Foundation Educator Achievement Award
The AIAA Foundation recognizes up to seven outstanding educators for their contributions to the continued study of mathematics, science, and related technical studies among America's youth. The awards are presented biennially (in odd-numbered years) at the AIAA Aerospace Spotlight Awards Gala. Nomination Deadline: 30 September

    Faculty Advisor Award
The Faculty Advisor Award is presented to the faculty advisor of a chartered AIAA Student Branch who, in the opinion of student branch members and the AIAA Student Activities Committee, has made outstanding contributions as a student branch faculty advisor, as evidenced by the record of his or her student branch in local, regional, and Institute activities. This annual award is generally presented at the AIAA Science and Technology Forum (SCITECH). Nomination Deadline: 1 July

    J. Leland Atwood Award
The J. Leland Atwood Award, established in 1985 and jointly sponsored by AIAA and ASEE Aerospace Division, is bestowed annually upon an aerospace engineering educator in recognition of outstanding contributions to the profession. Atwood entered aviation when it was little more than experimentation in a daring sport. Nevertheless, he believed that this new field would be a cornerstone of our national security and serve as a principal medium of world commerce. As an outstanding engineer and a leader of a great corporation, Atwood played a major role in the development of aviation and aerospace technologies for more than 50 years. Administration of the award resides at ASEE. This annual award, endowed by Rockwell Collins, consists of a honorarium and a certificate presented by ASEE at their summer conference. In addition AIAA presents a certificate of citation and a distinctive engraved medal generally at the AIAA Science and Technology Forum (SCITECH).
