Named Best Scientific Membership Association by Reston Award Program
June 4, 2013 – Reston, Va. – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Foundation has received a 2013 “Best of Reston Award” in the Scientific Member Association category by the Reston Award Program.
Founded in 1996, the AIAA Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt educational organization committed to providing financial support to educational programs. By devoting resources to the education of both practicing and future aerospace professionals, and by recognizing professional achievement, the Foundation influences the future development of the aerospace profession and its workforce.
Mark Lewis, chairman of the AIAA Foundation, stated: “The AIAA Foundation is proud to accept this ‘Best of Reston’ award, and we appreciate that our peers regard our service to the scientific community so highly. We will continue to work hard to open up the world of the aerospace sciences and engineering to our current members, as well as to those students in secondary and post-secondary education who will comprise the future generation of aerospace engineers and scientists.”
Each year, across the greater Reston area, the Reston Award Program chooses the best local businesses. The program focuses on companies that have demonstrated their ability to use various marketing methods to grow their business in spite of difficult economic times. The program recognizes companies that have exemplified the best of small business, often leading through customer service and community involvement.
