coalition participation In an effort to build effective grassroots campaigns and advocacy for the aerospace industry, AIAA participates in the following coalitions to ensure the development and management of aerospace interests. Aviation and Space Stakeholders Coalition Administered by the Aerospace Industries Association, the Coalition facilitates the implementation of the recommendations of the Aerospace Commission Final Report. The members of the Aviation and Space Stakeholders Coalition include more than 70 organizations that are associations that represent the manufacturers, the airlines, other commercial and general aviation operators, the airport operators, the aviation maintenance providers, the aircraft parts distributors, the unions, and professional societies. Aviation Coalition The Aviation Coalition advocates for government support on civil aviation issues, especially those which directly impact the aerospace industry and the engineers our organizations represent The Coalition meets monthly to plan actions that will show the Administration and Congress the importance for funding high risk research in the field of aviation, as well as the looming economics and national security effects that a weakened U.S. aviation industry would have nationally. Coalition for National Security Research The Coalition for National Security Research (CNSR) is administered by the Consortium for Oceanographic Research & Education and is a broadly-based coalition united by a commitment to a strong defense science and technology base. Participants include more than eighty scientific, engineering, mathematical and behavioral societies, academic institutions, and industrial associations. Coalition for Space Exploration The Coalition for Space Exploration, seeks to drive another 40 years of U.S. technology leadership by ensuring the recently re-focused U.S. space exploration vision is embraced, adopted and funded by Congress. The Coalition for Space Exploration is an ad-hoc alliance comprised of two parts - a Government Affairs Team and a Public Affairs Team. AIAA participation on the Government Affairs Team and works to facilitate the NASA budget. The advocacy and trade unions include: Aerospace Industries Association Aerospace Workers, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, California Space Authority, Electronics Industries Alliance, International Association of Machinists, Space Foundation, Space Transportation Association. United Auto Workers, and US Chamber of Commerce / Space Enterprise Council. The corporate members of the Coalition include: AAI Corp, AeroAstro, Aerojet, ATK, Ball Aerospace, Bechtel Corp, Boeing, Computer Sciences Corporation, Constellation Services International, EDS, GenCorp, General Dynamics, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp, Hamilton Sundstrand, Harris Corporation, Honeywell, Jacobs Engineering, Kistler Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Loral, Northrop Grumman, Orbital Sciences, Pratt Whitney, Raytheon, SAIC, SPACEHAB, Spectrum Astro, Swales Aerospace Teledyne, Total Resource Management, United Space Alliance, and United Technologies. Industry Technology Leadership Team The Industry Technology Leadership Team is organized by The Boeing Company and Lockheed Martin to promote aeronautics through NASA. National Aviation Association Coalition The National Business Aviation Association administers the National Aviation Association Coalition, a working group that meets quarterly with the FAA to discuss issues important to general aviation. Members include: Aircraft Electronics Association, AOPA, EAA, FAA, GAMA, HAI, International Council of Air Shows, NAA, NASA, National Agricultural Aviation Association, NATA, National Aircraft Resale Association, National Association of State Aviation Officials, NBAA, Professional Aviation Maintenance Association, Small Aircraft Manufacturers Association, Soaring Society of America, United States Parachute Associates, and the University Aviation Association. Space Exploration Alliance Thirteen of the nation's premier space advocacy groups, industry associations and space policy organizations have teamed up to support the effort to refocus NASA's human space activities toward exploration, including return to the Moon and moving on to Mars and beyond. These organizations have tentatively selected, "The Space Exploration Alliance," as the name for the group, pending approval of their participation from their respective boards. The goal of the group will be to educate Congress, through grassroots efforts, on the merits of NASA's new Exploration Vision and seek full funding for the FY05 NASA budget. Founding members include AIAA, AIA, Aerospace States Association, American Astronautical Society, California Space Authority, Florida Space Authority, The Mars Society, National Coalition of Spaceport States, National Space Society, The Planetary Society, ProSpace, Space Access Society and Space Frontier Foundation.
