Accompanying persons are invited to meet at 1000 hours on Wednesday 10 September, in the Buckingham Room at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. Information about local attractions, activities, tours, and shows will be available at that time. A continental breakfast will be served. There are no planned activities or tours and attendees are on their own for any activities.

Awards Luncheon
|
The awards luncheon will be held Thursday, 11 September, in the Palm Court/Crystal Ballroom at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. Th e cost of the luncheon is included in the full registration fee where indicated. Additional tickets may be purchased upon registration or at the on-site registration desk.
The AIAA Multidisciplinary Optimization Award will be presented to a deserving individual to recognize outstanding contributions to the development and/or application of techniques of multidisciplinary design optimization in the context of aerospace engineering.
In addition, the AIAA Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Technical Committee will recognize technical and scientific excellence with presentation of a best paper certificate of merit, and will also recognize the undergraduate or graduate student author of the best student paper.

Student Paper Competition on Design Optimization
|
|
Posters for the top-rated student paper competition on design optimization will be on display in the registration area during the conference. The authors will be available during the poster session on Wednesday, 10 September, 1200–1330 hrs, to answer questions and to share additional information. Each paper will also be presented in a technical session and will be included in the conference proceedings. The written manuscripts and oral presentations will be judged as part of the competition, and the winners will be announced at the awards luncheon.

Welcome Reception
|
|
A welcome reception sponsored by the University of Victoria is being planned for Wednesday, 10 September, at the Royal BC Museum. The reception is being organized by the MA&O Conference planning committee.
