Seminar Wargame
|
This seminar-wargame will provide you with an understanding of the challenges faced by today’s political and military leadership as they conduct a ballistic missile defense across national boundaries in a way that has never before been examined in the MNC environment. To register to participate in the wargame please access the following Web site: https://webapps.mda.mil/wargameevents and look for the MDC Wargame 09. Available sessions are: Monday, 21 September, 0900 hrs (if there is sufficient interest) Monday, 21 September, 1330 hrs Tuesday, 22 September, 0900 hrs Tuesday, 22 September, 1330 hrs Wednesday, 23 September, 0900 hrs Wednesday, 23 September, 1330 hrs Thursday, 24 September, 0900 hrs SCENARIO Tensions in the region are high between the Noble Alliance and the Southern Burgundy Sea (SBS) Coalition. The members of the SBS Coalition are suspected of developing and shipping ballistic missiles to aggressive and ambitious nations around the world. These ballistic missiles include those capable of handling weapons of mass destruction. The United Nations has requested assistance from the Noble Alliance to enforce an embargo on this shipping. Concerned with the possibility of attack, the Noble Alliance has begun strengthening its ballistic missile defense capability. As a new command and control center nears completion, the SBS Coalition launches a missile attack and this facility is seriously damaged. The Coalition threatens further “defensive” action against the Noble Alliance if the ballistic missile defenses are not dismantled immediately. As the conflict intensifies, you, as political and military commanders, will plan and execute a ballistic missile defense with the assistance of subject matter experts. The seminar-wargame will explore the implications and impacts of political cooperation among the alliance members as well as neighboring nations outside the Alliance. You will discuss and identify, along with your fellow participants, how military coordination of national assets can contribute to the ballistic missile defenses of the Alliance. You will gain new insights into missile defense concepts as you execute your plan. You will operate in a complex environment where allies stand together against a common adversary. Offensive capabilities of the adversary must be countered to protect the Alliance, in a region filled with neutral nations whose interests must also be considered. Finally, you will be asked to consider how to effectively predict, manage, and mitigate the consequences of your defense.
