Our Mission

To enhance and support the viability of the future aerospace professional, practicing aerospace professionals, and the organizations and institutions involved in aerospace.

Our Vision
The AIAA Foundation – Support for Aerospace Education

A simple, compelling philosophy drives our commitment to math, science, and technology education: Make it exciting, make it empowering, and make it fun.

At the university level, K-12, and beyond, our underwriting of scholarships, classroom grants, design competitions, student conferences and professional recognition of outstanding achievement enhances scientific literacy and advances the arts and sciences of aerospace, fulfilling our mission to support the future aerospace professional, practicing aerospace professionals, and the organizations and institutions involved in aerospace.

Our Future
The goals of Invest in the Future - The AIAA Foundation Campaign are twofold:

  • to raise $10,000,000 for the endowment fund so we may increase awards and impact for our industry and the members we serve, and

  • to raise awareness of the AIAA Foundation and the benefits our programs have on STEM education, technological innovation, workforce development, and professional advancement.

  • Founded in 1996, the AIAA Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt educational organization committed to providing financial support to educational programs. By devoting resources to the education of both practicing and future aerospace professionals, and by recognizing professional achievement, we are influencing the future of the aerospace profession.
Programs
The AIAA Foundation offers a wealth of resources to support educators at both the university level and K-12: scholarships, classroom grants, design competitions, and student conferences. This financial assistance allows educators and students to build scientific leteracy and advance the arts and sciences of aerospace.

Your gift to the AIAA Foundation makes these programs possible:

    Scholarships
Helping college students as they work to earn their degrees has long been one of the cornerstones of the AIAA Foundation. We fund numerous scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate scholarships range from $2,000 to $2,500. Graduate scholarships are $5,000 or $10,000.

    K-12 Education
AIAA and the AIAA Foundation are partners for K-12 education, providing resources to help teachers excite students about math and science. School system budget constraints make AIAA Foundation more crucial than ever.

    Design Competitions
Every year, the AIAA Foundation sponsors a range of design competitions that ask students to solve real-world design problems. These well-respected and high-visibility competitions give America's best student designers a chance to put their talent front and center.

    Student Conferences
Every year, the AIAA Foundation helps support Regional Student Conferences held throughout the United States, as well as an International Student Conference.

The Spotlight on Individual Achievement
The AIAA Foundation recognizes the achievements of our members by funding several prestigious awards. By rewarding educators, students, and practicing aerospace professionals for their outstanding individual contributions, we confirm the excellence and success of their contributions to the industry.

    AIAA Educator Achievement Awards

Every two years, the AIAA Foundation recognizes up to seven outstanding educators for their accomplishments in exciting K–12 students about math and science and preparing them to use and contribute to tomorrow’s technologies. The awards are generally presented at the Aerospace Spotlight Awards Gala.

    AIAA Foundation Award for Excellence

The AIAA Foundation Award for Excellence was established in 1998 to recognize unique contributions and extraordinary accomplishments by organizations or individuals promoting aerospace. This annual award is generally presented at the Aerospace Spotlight Awards Gala.

    AIAA Associate Fellows Dinner
Every year, the AIAA Foundation invites new Associate Fellows to receive recognition and have the opportunity to come together with other Associate Fellows and Fellows for an evening of networking and celebration of this achievement. The Associate Fellows Dinner is generally held in conjunction with the AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting.
