Download 2007 ATIO/CEIAT/LTA Preliminary Program ATIO, CEIAT, and the LTA TC have come together to create a unique international event that will explore this theme of Aviation: Industry Without Borders. The joint conference will bring together researchers, designers, analysts, manufacturers, integrators, and operators in a diverse program intended to foster the exchange of ideas and to spark dialogue on how to enhance aviation and the aviation system of today while preparing for the needs and issues of tomorrow. Participants will explore new systems analysis methodologies, discuss new aircraft designs and manufacturing techniques, and identify potential ways in which the community can address the challenges it now faces in security, economics, and the environment.
Suggested Topics for Papers To facilitate the exploration of the conference vision, papers are sought that discuss innovation and optimization in the fields of technology, integration, and operations.
Technology Paper topics may include: Design of aircraft including light sport aircraft, VLJs, supersonic civil aircraft, rotorcraft (including high-speed cruise capability), airships, aerostats, V/STOL aircraft, and UASs Impact of recent FAA (Part 125/135) and EASA regulation changes on all types of aircraft, transport airship, and hybrid airship design Design tools and methods for conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design, including variable fidelity, probabilistic analysis, and physics-based approaches for unconventional configuration design and analysis Propulsion systems, both conventional and unconventional, including turbine engines that can exchange shaft horsepower generation with fan mass flow, variable cycle engines, powerplants with breakthrough capabilities in thrust/weight ratio and/or specific fuel consumption, electric, fuel cell storage, and alternative fuel systems Flight control systems Advanced composite materials and fabrics for inflatable structures Simulation and aerodynamic modeling of low Reynolds number inflatable vehicles Satellite communication, navigation, surveillance systems, and ATM automation systems Situational awareness for flight crew and air traffic controllers, including navigation, terrain, weather, and traffic Passenger systems, including entertainment, seating, embarkation/disembarkation, and evacuation Certification of UAS airships for long-duration operations in mixed airspace and above Manufacturing procedures and assembly techniques Aircraft cargo handling systems, and airship vertical lift cranes Aircraft maintenance, repair, and usage monitoring Aircraft modification and certification issues governing aircraft and transport airships Airport systems, including ground handling of aircraft and passengers Automation of airship ground handling systems Meteorological prediction, including severe weather and in-flight icing Security systems for airports and aircraft, both on-ground and in-flight Simulation systems, including real-time, fast-time, human-in-the-loop, and distributed simulation for training or evaluation Test systems for component-level or system-level evaluation or validation, including novel test beds Measurement systems Environmental, legal, and policy issues in ATM and vehicle design Life-cycle modeling of air vehicles Papers with a focus on reducing aircraft noise, emissions, and fuel consumption through novel operational concepts, alternative propulsion, and fuels approaches or advanced configurations are of particular interest.
