AIAA
Atmospheric Flight Mechanics Technical Committee

The purpose of the Atmospheric Flight Mechanics Technical Committee is to advance the technology and provide forums for the theoretical, experimental, and practical consideration of aerodynamic performance, trajectories, and attitude dynamics of vehicles moving through planetary atmospheres, including aircraft, spacecraft, boosters, and entry vehicles; aerodynamic forces and moments acting on such vehicles; stability, response to control, handling qualities, and response to atmospheric disturbances of these vehicles. The objectives of the AFM TC are to support and make positive contributions to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA); organize, direct, and provide media for the timely and relevant dissemination of technical information through conference, symposia, working groups, and continuing education courses; provide a technical conscience and consultation service for the U.S. Government and U.S. industry; provide recognition for significant technical contributions; and maintain liaison with other AIAA Technical Committees.
