Welcome to the website of the Digital Avionics Technical Committee (DATC) !
The purpose of the DATC is to provide a forum for the exchange of new knowledge in digital avionics among professionals and students in the fields of commercial, military and general aviation and space applications. The DATC serves the needs and professional interests of AIAA members and promotes through progressive projects and meetings their contributions and achievements in the arts, sciences and technology of aeronautics and astronautics.
The goals of the DATC include:
- To provide a forum for free discussion of new ideas, research, development and applications in order to stimulate and inspire pioneering work.
- To serve the needs of the constituents of the AIAA community we support towards their individual interests and professional growth.
- To provide a national meeting in the area of avionics that will further the progress of AIAA entities, including other Technical Committees and local Sections and thereby better serve the interests of all AIAA members and community at large.
The major activities of the DATC include:
- Provide policy direction and key personnel for the Digital Avionics Systems Conference (DASC) through the DASC Executive Committee (DEC). DASC Website
- Provide policy direction and key personnel to the Integrated Communication, Navigation and Surveillance Systems Conference through the ICNS Executive Committee. ICNS Website
- Provide support to the AIAA Information Systems Group and the AIAA Infotech at Aerospace Conference. Infotech Website
- Provide educational programs by sponsoring workshops, sessions, tutorials and other conferences and by sponsoring college scholarships through the AIAA.
- Facilitate review and publishing of digital avionics articles.
- Advocate policy to AIAA on digital avionics topics of national interest.
- Promote understanding of standardization, integration, technological and other issues important to digital avionics systems.
- Coordinate with other professional societies and educational institutions.
- Honor technical contributors through awards, nominations for fellows, and membership upgrades.
- Broaden the member participation base and professional development through creation and use of digital avionics subcommittees within the full committee.
