Christine M. Anderson, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Director of the MILSATCOM Joint Program Office, Space and Missile Systems Center. Prior to her assignment to SMC/MC, Ms Anderson was Director, Space Vehicles Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. She was responsible for planning and implementing the research, development and transition of space technologies for the U.S. Air Force. The 1,000-person directorate focuses on leading-edge space concepts, technologies and flight experiments that support surveillance, space asset protection and force projection. The directorate performs research in a range of science and technology in the areas of space electronics, satellite autonomy, power, remote sensing, structures, structural control, astrodynamics and aerospace environmental physics.

Ms. Anderson established and chairs the Space Technology Alliance. The alliance is comprised of eight government organizations: Air Force, Army, Navy, Ballistic Missile Defense Organization, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Department of Energy, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Reconnaissance Office. The goal is to secure more research for the cost through increased collaboration and leveraging. Ms. Anderson is a member of the board of directors of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. She is an AIAA Fellow and has received the institute's von Braun Space Program Management Award and Software Engineering Award. She also has received the Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Award. Ms. Anderson was selected for the Senior Executive Service in 1996.
