The LA Section is seeking nominations for the 2001-2002 Executive Committee. The following positions are open for nominations:

Chair Elect: The Chair-Elect is that individual who shall succeed the Chair at the beginning of the year following his/her election, unless earlier succession should be required. The Chair may delegate to the Chair-Elect appropriate responsibilities and authorities.

Secretary: Prepares and maintains the correspondence of the Section, and the Executive Committee.

Finance: Shall be responsible for all Section funds, including their receipt, retention, disbursement, and accounting. The Vice-Chair Finance shall make all financial reports required and expenditures authorized by the Executive Committee or the Bylaws of the AIAA.

Membership: Responsible for Section activities which enlarge and advance its membership, and for assessing the Section’s responsiveness to them.

Education: Responsible for Section activities which foster education in engineering and science, both among Section members and within the community. This person shall serve as a liaison to local student branches and as the focal point for educational scholarships and awards given by the Section.

Public Policy: Responsible for all Section activities which increase public awareness of aerospace contributions to society, contributes expertise toward solutions of community technological problems, and promotes community interest in AIAA.

Programs: Responsible for planning and publicizing section monthly dinner meetings.

Honors & Awards: Responsible for providing information on all National, Regional and Section Awards, acting as an advocate for section members applying for awards, and helping to coordinate educational awards and scholarships.

Young Professionals: Responsible for the planning, budgeting, conduct and prompt reporting of Section activities of particular interest to members under 35 years of age.

Technical: Responsible for all Section technical meetings; for promoting Section interest and participation in national technical meetings; for planning, budgeting, and coordinating the Section’s annual technical symposium.

Chapters: Responsible for motivating and assisting in the formulation and conduct of chapters, and reporting their activities to the Executive Committee at its regularly scheduled meetings.

Precollege: Responsible for activities related to career guidance and scientific enrichment activities to students in grades K-12 in local area schools and clubs. This person shall also coordinate activities with the Education Vice-Chair.

Special Events: Responsible for the planning major special events (such as tours and awards ceremonies). This person shall also coordinate activities with the Programs Vice-Chair and provide support to monthly dinner meetings when necessary.

Career Enhancement: Shall be responsible for the planning activities related to matters concerned with the career relations and development of members including such matters as pensions, certification, ethics, manpower, employment, education, and conditions of employment and benefits.

Advisory Board: Consists of 7-15 members who provide guidance to the Executive Committee and support Section activities.
