
Al 'Buddy' Holmes, Director, New Business in the Government Sales and Marketing will give a presentation on Gulfstream Special Mission Aircraft.
Biography:
Al "Buddy" Holmes brings over 40 years of experience in the Aerospace Industry
beginning at General Dynamics, Fort Worth with the RB-57F and FB-111 aircraft,
and Lockheed, Marietta with the C5A, C141, C130, XV4B Hummingbird, and Jetstar
II. During the last 20 years at GAC, his engineering experience has been utilized
during the first 8 years as Group Head of Aerodynamics, Performance, Flight
Dynamics, and Manager of Flight Sciences during the design, development and
introduction of the G-IV and G-IV SP, our FEWSG development and our MCRS PhotoRecon
G-III's. For the next 8 years he has served as the Project Engineering Manager
for all of our Foreign Military and Government Agency Special Mission programs
including our two operational Swedish SIGINT, S-102B, G-IV's, our successful
fleet of Japanese JDA U-4's, the NOAA Hurricane Research G-IV, our extended
ASTOR effort, and early SEMA efforts. The last four years, as Director, New
Business in the Governments Sales and Marketing have seen the successful sales
of HIAPER, SEMA, CAEW programs and a quantum jump in interest in our Aircraft
for Special Mission applications.
Buddy is a Registered Professional Engineer in Georgia, an SAE member and AIAA Associate Fellow with service on National Technical Committees in Applied Aerodynamics and Atmospheric Flight Mechanics. He has coauthored several SAE, AIAA, ASME Technical Papers covering a range of topics from Gulfstream Special Mission Aircraft, and Gulfstream Cabin Noise Reduction to Railcar Aerodynamics. For the latter, he received the 1984 ASME Land Transportation Award. Buddy is an honors graduate of the University of Florida in Aerospace Engineering and earned a Master of Science from Georgia Tech in Engineering.
