This Gulfstream University course will build an understanding of the different types of electric machines and the advantages of each type. Permanent Magnet, Brush DC, Brushless, Coreless DC, Induction, Stepper, Servo, and Synchronous motors, as well as, the motor selection process will be discussed. Applications such as fluid pumps, control surface actuation, engine cooling, starter/generator, and power steering will be discussed. Interested Engineering employees should contact their department coordinators to register. Please reference course no. AS101. Employees will receive training credit on their Gulfstream University records. Prerequisites are an understanding of basic freshman and sophomore engineering concepts.
