
Distinguished Lecturer Robert W. Horton, will talk about
Flight Test of the X-45A Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle
Abstract:
Robert’s presentation will provide an overview of the DARPA/USAF/Boeing X-45 UCAV system, first autonomous Unmanned
Air Vehicle designed from the ground up as combat strike aircraft. The strategy of developing key technologies for this
revolutionary weapon system through flight test demonstrations will be addressed. The talk also discusses the challenges
of flight testing an advanced autonomous UAV.
Robert Horton was the X-45A Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) Chief Pilot for the Boeing Company. He was the Test
Conductor of the first flight of the X-45A and also serves as a Test Director for the DARPA/Boeing X-45A Test Program
at Edwards AFB, CA.
