Radio Controlled Aerobatics - George Hicks

George Hicks has been flying radio-controlled airplanes for over 20 years and has been competing in aerobatics since the early nineties. He has placed in over 50 major aerobatic events with more than half of them resulting in first place finishes. George was the 1999 IMAC Sportsman Vice-Champion and the IMAC Advanced National Champion in 2000. He now competes in the Unlimited class with his best National placing being 3rd in 2002 and again in 2004. George is also heavily involved with 3-D/freestyle flying and is most noted for his revolutionary indoor-electric designs and winning the 2004 ETOC World Championships in Toledo, Ohio. He is a prominent model designer for Horizon Hobby’s E-Flite™ and Hangar 9™ lines of model aircraft and a technical consultant for numerous model companies. His love of model airplanes and desire to understand the intricacies of flight led him to complete a Bachelors and Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering from Mississippi State University.
