Managing Knowledge Due to Workforce Attrition
Instructors: Kevin Greenes, Benjamin Sagalovsky
Synopsis:
We know (1) that when people leave our organizations their knowledge goes with them and (2) that demographic and economic forces make this an ever more common occurrence. With this knowledge loss, we can lose our competitive edge, our ability to more efficiently make decisions, and often our ability to serve our products and customers. This course presents a conversational model for eliciting past experiences, the key learning that arose from them, and for organizing and presenting knowledge so it can be effectively reused. It introduces a proven methodology for exposing knowledge as it surfaces in daily challenges and for transferring it effectively. We discuss how to identify key knowledge projects that will impact performance and how to carry them out effectively. Besides knowledge capture from at-risk employees, the methodology enables leveraging collective learning to ensure the success of projects and organizational operation.
