Daniel Patrick Mazzeo is an aerospace engineer, aviator, and aviation consultant. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 18, 1949 to Gennaro and Marie Grace. He married Belva Faye Musick on September 10, 1977, and they have two children, Gennaro and Jina Marie.
Mr. Mazzeo holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York and a graduate diploma in Aviation Safety from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot rating and has flown over 10,000 hours as pilot-in-command of commercial jet transports and high performance military carrier aircraft.
Mr. Mazzeo enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1968. He was commissioned an Ensign in 1971 and advanced through grades to Commander. His military duties included operational tours as a Naval Aviator and support tours as a Project Engineer and Aviation Safety Specialist. His administrative duties included being the CEO of a Depot Level Aircraft Maintenance Facility and the Chief Operations Officer of a major Naval Air Station. Upon retirement from the U.S. Navy in 1991, Mr. Mazzeo owned and operated his own aviation consulting firm. He specialized in aviation planning and studies. In order to accomplish airport projects requiring considerable design resources, he associated himself with a local Architectural/Engineering firm and subsequently accepted a position as their Aviation Program Manager until 1996. Since that time, he has been an Aviation Project Manager for Dufresne-Henry, Inc. in Naples, Florida.
Mr. Mazzeo has over thirty years' experience in all aspects of airport/aviation planning. He recently was recognized by the FAA. His design project was awarded the 1997 FAA Innovative Environmental Award of the Year. He also was recognized by the Florida Department of Transportation for his planning and engineering contributions to the Florida General Aviation Airport of the Year. He was the Project Manager/Project Engineer for over one hundred airport/airspace capital improvement projects and studies during the past eight years.
Mr. Mazzeo has contributed articles to professional journals and presented numerous papers at professional forums. He is recognized in Marquis Who's Who in America, Science and Engineering which documents his leadership and achievements in the fields of aerospace, electrical and civil engineering. He is a recipient of the New York City Science Grant, and his contributions include the invention of the Electrophotographic Imaging Machine. He is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Society of American Military Engineers. He enjoys deep sea fishing, gardening, reading and debating. Dan lives with his wife, Belva, and their two children in Oriole Beach, Florida.
