Welcome to the AIAA Energetic Components and Systems Home Page
Energetic Components and Systems Technical Committee The Energetic Components and Systems Technical Committee (ECS TC) was founded to provide an organization that improves communication, education, and interaction with the wide variety of ordnance designers, suppliers and system customers in the aerospace industry, defense related sciences, and civilian applications. Energetic components or systems contain explosive materials with high energy densities that provide directed energy, released in a controlled manner, to perform a variety of functions in applications ranging from military and civilian aircraft, space vehicles and missiles, defense weaponry, automotive safety, demolition, and mining. Our technical interests in this broad field include chemical, mechanical, electrical and optical design, analysis and testing, manufacture, reliability, safety and other interests critical to the successful use of energetic systems or devices. The primary function of the ECS TC is to provide a forum for the dissemination of information to technologists and users of enegetic components and systems. This is accomplished by the sponsorship of technical sessions at the AIAA Joint Propulsion Conference (JPC) and other non-AIAA technical meetings, special topical seminars and workshops, and the publication of a group newsletter. Other activities include continuing work on general performance specifications for energetic components and systems, as well as development of design guides, handbooks, and standards.
