AIAA Fluid Dynamics Award

Every year, the AIAA Fluid Dynamics TC awards one individual with the Fluid Dynamics Award for outstanding contributions to the understanding of the behavior of liquids and gases in motion and of the physical properties and dynamical behavior of matter in the plasma state as related to needs in aeronautics and astronautics. (Past Award recipients can be found here.)

2008 Award Recipient

Dr. Marvin Goldstein

NSAS Glenn Research Center

Dr. Goldstein was recognized for seminal theoretical contributions to rapid-distortion theory towards understanding the roles of receptivity and nonlinearity in transition to turbulence, and towards explaining the boundary-layer Klebanoff modes.

AIAA Fluid Dynamics Best Paper Award

Every year, the AIAA Fluid Dynamics TC presents a best paper award to the authors of a paper selected from all of the submitted conference articles from the FDTC sponsored sessions at AIAA conferences each year.

2008 Award Recipient

AIAA-2008-0591 “Investigation of Asymmetric Subharmonic Resonance in a Supersonic Boundary Layer at Mach 2 Using DNS”, C. Mayer and H. Fasel, University of Arizona
