CHARTER:
The Steering Committee provides the overall guidance and leadership for the
GTTC. The Steering Committee
maintains the link to AIAA Headquarters and to the AIAA Technical Activities
Committee (TAC). The Steering
Committee also coordinates with the entire GTTC membership and the GTTC Task
Subcommittees and GTTC Working Groups to insure that all AIAA and GTTC business
is addressed.
STRUCTURE:
The Steering Committee is established and maintained by the
GTTC.
The GTTC Chairperson chairs the Steering Committee.
Membership consists of the GTTC Vice-Chairperson, GTTC Secretary, Chairpersons
of the Aerodynamics and Propulsion Subcommittees, and the Chairperson of the
Conference Planning Subcommittee.
As is the case with all GTTC meetings, the Steering Committee
meeting is open to any GTTC member.
OBJECTIVES:
The Steering Committee reviews policy, AIAA business, and all matters of global
interest to the GTTC. The Steering Committee is responsible for delegating
tasks to the primary subcommittees and task subcommittees as needed to insure
that all AIAA and GTTC business is completed. On matters requiring policy
change, the Steering Committee makes recommendations to the GTTC for review,
debate and vote, as applicable.
OPERATION
- The
Steering Committee meets two times annually at times and locations
concurrent with the scheduled GTTC meetings.
- The
Steering Committee meeting should be the first GTTC meeting held during
the week so that appropriate information and actions can be discussed and
then disseminated during subsequent GTTC meetings.
- The
Steering Committee provides a direct path for communication between the
GTTC Chairperson and the primary subcommittees.
- The
Steering Committee presents a formal report at each GTTC meeting or as
part of the overall GTTC meeting minutes. This report is provided by the GTTC
Chair.
- Minutes
from the Steering Committee will be included in the GTTC Meeting Minutes
package from each meeting. The
GTTC Secretary is responsible for compiling the minutes from the Steering
Committee, with input from the GTTC Chair and Vice-Chair.
- The
Steering Committee (or designated subset of the Steering Committee) will
also conduct teleconferences between regularly schedule meetings to insure
that all AIAA and GTTC business is being properly addressed. These teleconferences will be held
at the discretion of the GTTC Chair.
- The
Steering Committee shall maintain a list of roles and responsibilities for
the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and other GTTC members, to insure that
all objectives and tasks are completed.
- The
Steering Committee shall conduct the primary GTTC meeting(s). In particular, the GTTC Chair,
Vice-Chair and Secretary will be responsible for organizing and running
the GTTC Kick-Off meeting (held at the beginning of the meeting week,
usually immediately following the Steering Committee meeting) and the GTTC
General meeting (usually the last meeting of the week).
- The
Steering Committee is responsible for the completion of the annual GTTC
report to TAC.
