The SETC has adopted a process for TC organization that focuses upon projects that deliver “Best Value” to AIAA membership. Our TC is organized into project activities that focus on key systems engineering areas that support our charter.
Interoperability is becoming an increasingly important requirement for the armed services. The AIAA is joining forces with the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) to address the Defense Departments systems engineering needs in these key telecommunications areas and have a voice in customer systems engineering processes like CMMI, Interoperability, Sustainment, and Supportability. Our committee is also
developing a series of systems engineering application training courses designed for the practicing AIAA systems engineer. Standards are important enablers in systems engineering processes. The SETC is an active member in AIAA standards activities. The SETC supports the AIAA Collection of Preferred Space Related Standards (CPSRS) through TAC liaison activities. Our TC also monitors national and international systems engineering standards and their relevancy to the AIAA membership. External liaisons with the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and NDIA provide valuable sources for the status of emerging of SE standards. Our TC monitors ‘Hot Topics’ in the field of systems engineering. The SETC reports its findings annually in a yearly highlights article published in the AIAA December Aerospace America magazine under Engineering and Technology Management. |
