The following activities will be undertaken by the SLTC, subject to the support and abilities of the members of the committee: 1. Identify and develop illustrative space logistics system architectures and supporting data addressing: · Terrestrial space bases and support operations · To-space, from-space, and in-space mobility · In-space bases and depot support · Satellite, spacecraft, and space facility assembly, construction, maintenance, repair, protection, and upgrade · Personnel housing, medical, recreation, training and other support · Supplies warehousing and distribution · Power and propellant generation, storage, and distribution · Waste product and debris collection, storage, and disposal · Emergency personnel evacuation, protection, and search and rescue · Extraterrestrial resource extraction, processing, storage, and distribution 2. Identify innovative approaches for space logistics operations design, governance, acquisition, administration, regulation, and economics. 3. Identify, through cooperative efforts with other technical committees and organizations, useful logistics-related technology development activities that advance spacefaring capabilities. 4. Communicate example space logistics architectures and systems to AIAA members and the public to help demonstrate the importance of space logistics for achieving national spacefaring capabilities and to help influence perceptions of what spacefaring capabilities are possible to achieve. 5. Work with other technical committees to support student systems architecting and systems engineering design competitions to foster innovation in space logistics. 6. Support AIAA public policy inputs related to space logistics and future spacefaring operations. |
