This course is intended fortechnical and management personnel who wish to gain an understanding of techniquesthat can be implemented to minimize premature failure of space systems. It first identifiesselected typical space system failures and their causes. Failure analysesincludes the Weibull distribution and its failure rate, mean time to failure, hazardfunction reliability (survival) function, and conditional, reliabilityfunction. Mitigation techniques discussed includes burn in and risk managementtechniques that includes failure identification, fault tree analyses, eventtree analyses, failure modes and effects analyses, failure modes and effectsanalyses, and risk matrices.

Key Topics
  • Spacecraft Failures
  • Failure Analyses
  • Risk Management
  • Failure Identification
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis
  • Risk Matrix
