NASA reports that after weather delayed Saturday’s scheduled launch, the Parker Solar Probe was successfully launched on Sunday from Cape Canaveral aboard a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket. The probe will travel at record speeds to study the sun’s magnetic field and solar-wind speed. Parker’s first orbit of the sun in November will be as close as 15 million miles, making this mission the closest to the sun any manmade instrument has been.  (Image Credit: NASA)
