Bloomberg News reports that The Boeing Company CEO Dennis Muilenburg anticipates the company’s prototype air taxi will take flight next year. Boeing is also “working with regulators to develop a traffic-management system for the aircraft in five years.” In an interview Wednesday, Muilenburg said that Boeing is “working on both the ecosystem – the regulatory framework – and the new vehicles. All of that is happening now.” Muilenburg also cited Boeing’s collaboration with the Spark Cognition startup and the FAA to design a UAV air traffic management system. He added, “I would expect that within five years we’ll see initial operational capability being fielded.” (Image: Bell Helicopter's autonomous air taxi concept is displayed at CES International, Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, in Las Vegas.
