Bombardier halted the CSeries test flight program on Friday because of an engine-related incident during maintenance testing on Thursday. How this might impact the plane’s already-delayed certification is not known. Because the incident involved a Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engine, other companies like Airbus, Embraer, and Mitsubishi Aircraft could be affected as well because they are also utilizing the engine in their models. A failure analysis on the engine was scheduled to begin yesterday in order to determine what happened. There is currently no information on whether this is potentially a simple production issue or a more complex design issue. (Image Credit: Wikipedia / Yan Gouger)
