An Air Force F-35 Joint Strike Fighter caught fire during takeoff on Monday Eglin Air Force Base. The pilot was able to exit the cockpit unharmed. Officials are now looking into the cause of the fire. This is the second recent major incident involving an F-35. Last month, flights were halted for a time to deal with an oil flow management valve fitting inside the engine. The F-35 is scheduled to be flown soon to the UK to make its international debut, but it is unclear whether the recent incident will delay those plans. Furthermore, it is not certain yet whether all F-35s will have to be inspected to make sure they do not catch fire in a similar fashion. (Image Credit: USN)
