Apollo astronaut Buzz Alrdrin participated in a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” session Tuesday to highlight the upcoming 45th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Aldrin thinks that it would not be the best use of NASA resources for NASA to return to the moon, stressing that it would be better off focusing on establishing a permanent colony on Mars. He feels that Mars missions cannot be “tourism trips.” Instead, they have to be one-way trips from the start, or else the mission becomes very expensive and delays any permanent habitat.
