USA Today reported on Amazon’s efforts to get federal approval for its planned Prime Air drone delivery system, although this is not likely to happen anytime this year, or even next. Amazon Vice President of Global Public Policy Paul Misener said that Amazon Prime Air is participating in several groups that share Congress’ goal of getting small UAVs flying commercially in the United States safely and as soon as possible. Les Dorr, FAA spokesperson, said that the agency was working out how to reply to Amazon’s petition to begin tests with drones that weigh less than 55 pounds and fly below 400 feet.
