    Eligibility Requirements:

    Applicants for an AIAA Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship shall meet the following eligibility requirements:

    • Must be a current AIAA Student member in good standing.
    • Must have completed at least 1 academic semester of full-time college work.
    • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.300 on a 4.000 scale.
    • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university within the United States or U.S. Territories.
    • Applicant's education plan shall be such as to provide entry into some field of science or engineering encompassed by the technical activities of AIAA.

    Award Criteria:

    The recipient of the scholarship will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:


    • Official College/University Transcript (if you’ve attended more than one College/University, official transcripts from ALL schools must be provided), including work completed through the most recent Fall term.
      • Transcripts MUST be mailed.
      • An official transcript is the University's certified statement of your academic record.
      • The official paper transcript is printed on security sensitive paper and contains the University seal and signature of the University Registrar.
      • We do not accept transcripts via fax or email. Official transcripts must be mailed. (Official transcripts that are scanned or copied become unofficial and are unacceptable.)
      • Secure Electronic PDF Transcripts are accepted, however they must be sent directly from your college/university's electronic delivery service. Electronic transcripts must be sent to on or before the deadline date to be accepted.
    • Assessment of a 500-1,000 word typewritten essay, specifying the applicant’s career objectives and an outline of the academic program required to achieve the career objectives.
    • Three (3) professional letters of recommendation (recommendations from relatives will not be accepted). Letters of recommendation must be submitted via the online application database. Paper/emailed letters will not be accepted.
    • Extracurricular activities, including high school, college and community activities, offices, awards, and work experience will receive due consideration.


    Award Restrictions:


    • Applicants shall not have, or subsequently receive any other scholarship which, when combined with the AIAA Foundation award, would provide a stipend greater than their tuition plus educational expenses (such as books, lab fees, room, board, etc.) estimated by the educational institution the applicant plans to attend.
    • Applicants at the sophomore and junior level who receive this scholarship are not restricted from applying in subsequent years.
    • Applicants may be students of any nationality, not restricted by the U.S. State Department, in full-time study.




    • Judging is done by the Scholarship Selection Subcommittee of the Student Activities Technical Committee.
    • All decisions made by the Scholarship Selection Subcommittee are final.
    • If the Scholarship Selection Subcommittee determines there is not a qualified applicant for a particular year, the scholarship will not be awarded.




    All materials must be received by 31 January.
