    NEW! Triumph’s Aerospace Force Measurement Systems Group Tour

    Wednesday, 26 June 2013, 1700–1930 hrs 
    View a state of the art facility for the production of Wind Tunnel Balances. Tour the Design area, Instrumentation, Calibration and System Development Labs. View balance projects currently in work, the Automatic Balance Calibration System (ABCS), and the Large Load Rig (LLR) with a 30,000# Semi-Span balance installed. Other manual dead weight load stands with a variety of balances in the calibration process. A Model Positioning System (MPS) will be demonstrated. Other Systems may be onsite for demonstration depending on delivery schedules. Light Snacks will be provided. Space is limited to the first 50 people to sign-up.     San Diego Padres Off-Site Event

    Monday, 24 June, 1830 hrs, first pitch 1910 hrs
    Join us for a night at Petco Park enjoying America's favorite pastime. Bus Transportation will be provided to Petco Park home of the San Diego Padres for the game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Tickets include all you can eat burgers, hot dogs, ballpark snacks, beer, water and soda. AIAA will have the use of two private areas, the Western Metal Rooftop and Kona Cove, both with great views of the park. All attendees will also have a stadium seat from which to view the game. Attendees must use the bus transportation provided in order to receive an entry ticket. Those that use other means of transportation will not be given their ticket and will not be permitted to enter the stadium. Cost of the event is $85 and includes transportation. Additional tickets may be purchased via the registration form or at the AIAA on-site registration desk, upon availability.

    San Diego Low Speed Wind Tunnel Tour

    Wednesday, 26 June
    Option 1: bus leaves at 1330 hrs, tour from 1345–1430 hrs; Option 2: bus leaves at 1500 hrs, tour from 1515–1600 hrs
    For over 60 years, the San Diego Low Speed Wind Tunnel (LSWT) has served the testing needs of the aerospace community. The facility is fully staffed and equipped to provide all testing and data processing services. The tunnel circuit provides low turbulence, clean airflow, and uniform velocity distribution in the test section with controllable flow as low as 10 mph. A new variable frequency fan drive system is one of several recent tunnel upgrades. Tickets for the tour may be purchased upon registration. Visit for more information.   

    Opening Plenary

    The opening plenary session will cover “Aeronautics in the Virtual Age” by Dr. Dennis M. Bushnell, Chief Scientist, NASA Langley Research Center.

    Protecting Intellectual Property Workshop

    Investing in innovation is one of the keys to maintaining a competitive edge and for expanding business opportunities. Protecting this investment through intellectual property rights such as patents, copyrights, and trademarks is essential in today’s global economy, particularly when contracting with government entities. The United States recently implemented extensive changes to the patent system with far reaching effects for companies who wish to obtain and enforce their intellectual property rights. This workshop will explore various methods of protecting intellectual property, contracting with government agencies, and how the new patent laws will impact your vital business IP assets.

    The Tuesday Awards Luncheon will host a lecture on “Revolutionary Aerospace Technologies” by Charles Chase, Lockheed Martin Skunk Works. Admission is included in the registration fee where indicated. Additional tickets may be purchased for $60 via the registration form or at the AIAA on-site registration desk. The Fluid Dynamics Award, the Aerodynamics Award, and the Thermophysics Award will be presented at the luncheon.
