AIAA Recognized As One Of "Best Workplaces For Commuters"
Fairfax County, Va., Recognizes AIAA for Wide Variety of Transportation Plans Made Available to Employees

December 7, 2012 – Reston, Va. – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has been designated as one of the “Best Workplaces for Commuters” by the Fairfax County Department of Transportation, Fairfax, Va., in partnership with the University of South Florida’s Center for Urban Transportation Research, Tampa, Fla. Six other Fairfax County employers and two business sites joined AIAA in winning this designation.

The “Best Workplaces for Commuters” designation recognizes AIAA’s commitment to offering a wide variety of transportation options to its employees, including ridesharing, transit benefits, biking and walking, teleworking, alternate work schedules, and other Transportation Demand Management strategies.

“AIAA is honored to be recognized as one of the best workplaces for commuters in the Washington, D.C., metro area. We are strongly committed to offering our employees the best possible mix of commuting options, in order to help our employees balance their work/life obligations, as well as to help preserve our region’s environment by removing unnecessary automobile traffic from our region’s streets and highways,” stated Sandra H. Magnus, AIAA executive director. “We will continue to work with our Human Resources department, as well as local transportation authorities, to make sure we offer our employees the optimal level of transportation services and telecommuting options.”
