AIAA Statement on Senate Confirmation of NASA Administrator

    AIAA President Congratulates Rep. Bridenstine

April 19, 2018 – Reston, Va. – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) congratulates Oklahoma Congressman Jim Bridenstine on being confirmed as the 13th NASA Administrator. AIAA President Jim Maser made the following statement upon Bridenstine’s confirmation.

“There is much for Americans to be excited about when it comes to our nation’s aeronautics and space programs. Under its new leadership, we anticipate that NASA will send humans farther into our solar system; astronauts aboard the International Space Station will continue to conduct groundbreaking research; scientists will discover and address critical challenges facing our planet; engineers will push the boundaries of propulsion and aeronautics research; and commercial companies and public–private partnerships will continue their efforts to revolutionize safe, dependable, and efficient U.S.-based space transportation for cargo, crew, and potentially exploration.

Rep. Bridenstine has been a champion of civil, commercial, and military space policy during his time in Congress. AIAA looks forward to supporting him in his new role as we strive to maintain our nation’s leadership in space exploration and scientific discovery, while also helping to make critical advances in technology development and aeronautics research.”
