Congressional Visits Day

Advocate for Aerospace!

Congressional Visits Day (CVD) is an annual event that gathers U.S.-based AIAA members—engineers, scientists, researchers, and students—to meet with national decision makers and discuss critical community issues in aeronautics, astronautics, and defense. Through meetings with members of Congress, legislative staff, and other key stakeholders, CVD raises awareness of the long-term value that science, engineering, and technology bring to America.

Why Attend
  • Gain a better understanding of current issues impacting the aviation, defense, and space sectors
  • Discover how to personally engage your congressional representatives
  • Learn about the legislative process
  • Develop an awareness of policy and how it affects what aerospace engineers do and how you do it
  • Network with your aerospace community peers
CVD 2021 – New approach, wider reach, same great grassroots advocacy event
Date: Week of 15 March

Given the continued health and travel concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, the Institute’s 23rd annual CVD program will be unlike any previous year—it will be entirely virtual. It will also take place over an entire week. We hope that this allows for more U.S.-based AIAA members to participate and ultimately provides an opportunity to present our message to more congressional offices.

"Participating in CVD was like getting a bird’s eye view of a grand and magnificent national aerospace project. I knew that my contribution might be small, but being the voice of aerospace community filled my heart with immense pride and humility at the same time." –Ruchir Goswami, PhD Candidate, Iowa State University
