We are honored to have Charlie Bolden, former NASA Administrator, NASA Astronaut, and fighter pilot, deliver a special commencement address and Q&A session to celebrate the class of 2020.
About Charlie Bolden
Charles F. Bolden Jr.,, a retired Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps, is a former Naval Aviator, astronaut, NASA Administrator, and dedicated public servant. Following a distinguished career in the United States Marine Corps that saw him fly over 100 combat missions in Vietnam between 1972–1973 and go on to serve as Commanding General of a Marine aircraft wing, Bolden went on to serve as a NASA astronaut where he flew on four space shuttle missions, logging over 680 hours in space. Missions he piloted include Columbia in 1986 (STS-61C) and Discovery in 1990 (STS-31), the mission that deployed the Hubble Space Telescope. In 2009, President Barack Obama nominated Bolden to become the 12th NASA Administrator, where he oversaw the transition of the space shuttle program into a new era of exploration focused on the International Space Station and advanced aeronautics technology development. Bolden, a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, earned his Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
