To support the success of future aerospace professionals, the AIAA Foundation annually awards financial aid to undergraduate and graduate student members studying in the fields of science or engineering.
Undergraduate Scholarships:

  • David and Catherine Thompson Space Technology Scholarship - $5,000
  • Digital Avionics Scholarships - $2,000
  • Leatrice Gregory Pendray Scholarship - $1,250, female applicants only
  • Liquid Propulsion Scholarship - $2,500
  • Space Transportation Scholarship - $1,500
  • Vicki and George Muellner Scholarship for Aerospace Engineering - $5,000
  • Wernher von Braun Scholarship - $5,000
  • Rocky Mountain Section Scholarship - $500, for student members enrolled in a college or university in the Rocky Mountain Section (Colorado, Wyoming and Montana, USA.)

Graduate Awards:

  • Gordon C. Oates Air Breathing Propulsion Graduate Award - $1,000
  • Guidance, Navigation, and Control Graduate Award - $2,500
  • John Leland Atwood Graduate Award - $1,250
  • Luis de Florez Graduate Award - $3,500; focused on modeling and simulation studies
  • Martin Summerfield Propellants and Combustion Graduate Award - $1,250
  • Neil Armstrong Graduate Award- $5,000, U.S. citizens only
  • Orville and Wilbur Wright Graduate Awards - $5,000
  • William T. Piper, Sr. General Aviation Systems Graduate Award - $1,000
  • Abe M. Zarem Award for Distinguished Achievement
