Awards Recognize Outstanding Engineering, Math, Science and Technology Students

July 22, 2016 – Reston, Va. – Twelve student members of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) have been named winners of Aviation Week Network’s awards program: “Tomorrow’s Engineering Leaders: The 20 Twenties.”

“Each year the 20 Twenties Awards remind us that the future of humanity depends on the work of today’s young people, no matter where they come from around the globe,” said Sandy Magnus, AIAA executive director. “These award winners are using their insights, skills, and talents to push science, technology, engineering and math to points beyond today’s knowns, and are doing the work that makes tomorrow’s dreams possible. AIAA congratulates each of them, and we can’t wait to see where their work will take them next.”

The winners will be honored during Aviation Week’s 60th Annual Laureate Awards on March 2 at the National Building Museum, in Washington. D.C.

The awardees are:

  • Jakob Bludau, Technical University of Munich

  • Julia Crowley Farenga, Purdue University

  • Jennifer Domanowski, Boise State University

  • Alexander W. Feldstein, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

  • Kelly Henckel, University of Michigan

  • Rebecca E. Hill, University of Michigan

  • Matthew Ryan Hurst, University of Colorado, Boulder

  • Rubbel Kumar, University of Maryland

  • Braven C. Leung, Georgia Institute of Technology

  • Wanyi Ng, University of Maryland

  • Emily Marie Zimovan, Purdue Univesity

The 20 Twenties awards program recognizes top engineering, math, science and technology students. The program connects the next generation of aerospace and defense talent with established leaders who have created many of the "firsts" driving innovation in the 21st century.
